The Walrus

Illustrated Magazine Cover

Objectives
Create an editorial illustration based on a current news topic, to be used by a major Canadian magazine, “The Walrus” for an upcoming cover. Research a current topic and effectively communicate and comment visually on relevant information.

Execution
Original article is called “Sober Nation” written by Caitlin Walsh Miller found on macleans.ca. The article highlights the current trend towards sobriety among Gen Z’s and the affect this has had on businesses with providing more selection of non-alcoholic beverages. In the article, one of the reasons for sobriety found among Gen Z’s is not wanting to wake up with a hangover. Playing off the fact that sober nights lead to better mornings is the inspiration for this editorial illustration.
